Poem 44 : Shiva,The Pure

In pursuit of beyond sight,
beyond horizon,beyond our
modest existence, we have
always looked for divinity
as our humbled mind
cant fathom the vastness
of this mystic cosmos.

We yearn to believe
that the randomness
in universe is controlled
in some strange unknown
ways of someone all powerful,
all pervasive,all pervading,
source of creation.

In this mad search of
what is perceived to be
beyond human understanding,
we have always ventured.
And, I have found out that
my source of devotion
is devoted to a snow lord.

If anything has ever been
more beautiful than the creation,
it is the truth placed beyond it,
and to find truth in the God
and God in the truth is the
beginning and end of this
mystifying journey of solace.

Our sheepish imagination has
given you strange appearance.
With Skin of an elephant, clothing
of tiger skin, A trident as
weapon, A snake to decorate
your neck, A moon to add beauty,
Devanadi Gange in your tuft,
Damru to add music and
and a bull to ride.

Your bluish throat,your third eye,
has there been ever more beautiful
yet mystical imagination of Lord?
Ever so generous, Ever so innocent,
Ever so loving, Ever so peaceful,
Ever so detached, Ever so cryptic,
You are my source of Light.

You are the Lord of dance as Nataraj,
the Lord of animals as Pashupathi,
the Lord of dead souls as Bhoothanath,
the Lord of destruction as Bhairava,
the Lord of desolates as Kapali,
the Lord of charity as Bholenath,
the Lord of times as Mahakala,
the Lord of Lords as Mahadev.

You are Shiva, The Pure,
Always in deep meditation,
out there in the timeless time,
in the boundless space,
in the endless truth.

Satyam Shivam Sundaram,
Truth is as beautiful as you,
Only you and truth is beautiful,
Life is beautiful when we
can see you in Truth and
Truth in you.

We love you so much
that we want you to be
with us, in us,
in our strengths and weakness,
We chant out loud,
Hara Hara Mahadev,
that Mahadev lives in us all,
that all of us are Mahadevs,
If we believe in you,
in your purity, in your truth,
in your divine existence.

You are my struggle,
my purpose,my solitude,
my yearning,my reason,
to make life better
for me and all,
to pray for goodness,
to dream of a day
when i am freed
and made to rest
in your abode.

Until then, I will
fight for the goodness
in me,that is you,
I believe that the Mahadev,
lives in me as long as
I am free from material desires,
I am an ahami Shiv Bhakth.
My Ego is for being right,
My Ego is for being true,
My Ego is for You.
I will never bow out,
If i ever do,
Punish me harder than
the sinners, Guide me,
Bless me, Have mercy
on me and always bless
me the Light of Truth.
Let me live,dwell,float
and sink in this illusioned
reality, Let me pass
the corrosion of this body
in the name of you,
Let me sing and sing,
in your praise,
Let me find rest
in your mercy.
Let me live and die by you.

Poem 43 : The Circle around you

An end in itself
Is a beginning.
Like a circle,
Which ends to begin,
Which begins to end,
Which sides cant bind,
Which is infinite,
Which is a continuity,
Which starts at centre,
And can end only at centre,
Like your life.

Life as they say,
tests you from
the very beginning
Till the end.
The circles revolves
around you, with you
In centre, the centre of all.

People have tried,
From ages long,
to find the pi
Of circle, but it
still grows like you
In the vast cosmos
Of universe, yet
We strive and thrive
To find the end,
The end that begins.

Like the seven strings
Of music that plays on
Your turbulent senses
Trying to bring an eerie calm
Yet the temple strains
Persists in search of pi,
The pi of circle,
The pi of life.
The search that never ends
And Never did it begin.

We have come with gifts
To think, to adapt,
To survive, yet we see
What is beyond,
what makes us,
what ends us.
Few remain in this
Search at the end
To see and smile
”Oh so, this is the beginning!”

Poem 42 : Not just yet

Withered autumn leaves
Flew past me
On a dry dusty morning,
I was lost in thoughts.

I couldn’t move,
I couldn’t come out
Of these thoughts,
Which strained my innerself.

Why would we have
to come here just
To hate, to create
these non-existent lines.

Why would we have
To pray, to believe
In something better
When it just meant nothing.

Why would we be
gifted with life when
All we would do
was to destroy it one day.

Why would anything
Be so beautiful
Inside, in thoughts,
In stories, in dreams
When all the reality is cruel.

Why we strive hard
to make a hut
When the storm
would just blow it away.

Why is it always
We end up in
rubble after all
the palaces we build.

Why there has to be
colors, why there has to
be diversity, when all
would end up in red.

Why do you feed
us with berries
When we would
all end up in mud.

Why do you let
us think,why did
You create when all
you meant was to destroy.

Why have you left us
In dark, why do you
roam around unseen,
Why do you hide?

Why can only we
speak, and only
speak violence
When all others die in silence.

Why have kept the
silent ones always thinking
When they are not
speaking anyway.

Are we just walking with
the hope of light
At the end of tunnel,
Will we ever come out?

I may pray
When I am weak,
When I am tired,
But I will not break.

I will dig through,
I will find a way out,
I have not given up,
Not when I come this far.

Poem 41 : My Promise

There was this vast land,
Ruled by mighty kings,
With enormous wealth,
Where marvels happened,
Generations have passed
And the marvels still stand tall.

Amidst the chaotic world,
There is this place,
Built on the walls of values,
that came from the ages old,
There is this place,
Where I breathe,
Where I live,
This is my mother land.
Ever so colorful,
Ever so beautiful.

Let me smear my face,
With this holy soil,
And breathe deep
the scent of my divine home.

I thank you,
The almighty.
For my soul breathes this air,
For my tongue speaks this magic,
For my heart feels this Mother
with an ocean of love.

Yet, I live in these troubled times,
where the sons have
forgotten the obligation
that came when they
were gifted this life here.
The obligation to keep
her happy, to respect
the values she has stood for
from the time immemorial.
The duty to stand by,
unaffected by this petty
selfish mean desires.

I pass every day
As my Mother gets humiliated
By her very own sons,
Whom she had nurtured.
I pass every day
watching these monsters
Abuse this holy land.
I pass every day
gulping down the pain
that runs through these veins.

I pray and pray
For what one man can do,
What one man can do,
to stop this defilation,
to make a difference,
How can this inception,
be fired in the hearts
Of billions who share my home.

Then I feel, I can,
When I believe I can,
Sometimes you just need
to take a step back,
to make a big leap.
Sometimes you need
to believe in the dawn,
When it is still dark.
Sometimes you need
to just jump in,
when you still think
you can’t swim.
Sometimes, you have
to go beyond, where
others have always feared.
Sometimes, you just
to need stop thinking
And start doing.

As this urge surges within,
I promise on this day,
That my soul won’t die in peace,
Unless I see a smile on your face,
Unless your glory rises back,
You are my Mother India.

Poem 40 : A Delight rejoicing as ever

As the chunks of photons
smeared my face
on a pleasant morning
one day, when i
went along the
empty roads under
the calm canopy
of big old trees,
i smiled, for my
thoughts skimmed
from within.

thoughts, They are,
flying around my
inner side, revolving
over glimpses of you,
as i cruised over
the countryside,
i wondered, how
my eyes caught that
smile one day,
to push me out
of senses, to dwell
and get lost,
to forget for a moment,
all those worries
that kept my temples
wrinkled, i wondered
how beautiful is
simplicity, how
pleasing is your
composure, how
convincing is your
presence, how
nimble is your
posture, how
would i just
go beyond the mighty
walls of civilization
just to make sure
the angel within
you stays, the glow
around you blooms,
so that i rejoice
and succumb in this
sedating aura of you.

And after these thoughts
dived back, i realized,
i had reached,
as my senses came back
to reality,
there was you,
smiling,i said
to myself,
there is this delight
i would shelter

all through my journey.

Poem 39 : Freedom and Destiny

On a bright Sunday
Morning, one day,
I sat outside outside
With a cup of coffee

There was this peaceful
Silence I relished
For a moment
Despite all this busy life.

I wondered how days
Went by leaving behind
All those memories
Dwelling in this lonely heart

There is this moment
I was free from all
the responsibilities that
Life gives you compulsively.

There is always
A way out,
A bright light,
To push you
Past the darkness
That the lord overhead
Envelops you with.

May be, you are a speck
In the vast mist full
Plays of time
But you have an existence
To prove, to go beyond
the limits that makes you
Feel ordinary, there is
Always this dream
Burning inside to make
This life worthwhile.

Poem 38 : A moment to relish

On a bright Sunday
Morning, one day,
I sat outside outside
With a cup of coffee

There was this peaceful
Silence I relished
For a moment
Despite all this busy life.

I wondered how days
Went by leaving behind
All those memories
Dwelling in this lonely heart

There is this moment

the responsibilities that
Life gives you compulsively.

There is always
A way out,
A bright light,
To push you
Past the darkness
That the lord overhead
Envelops you with.

May be, you are a speck
In the vast mist full
Plays of time
But you have an existence

Poem 37 : A paradox unyielding

In the midst of uncertainty
Called life, I wandered all over
Without the sense of purpose,
Purpose to desire.

You came along the way
Like a oasis in the vast
Enormity of hopelessness
Spread across this barren inner side.

With the new fragrance
Of hope, my spirits rose
To conquer the sweetness
Of a paradox called love.

I swam and swam
With every last elements
Of buoyancy, I had, to
Float on the seas of
Murkiness beneath

Then at last, my strength
failed, my spirits
dissolved, my hopes
vanished as you went away.
I was left again,
All alone with No purpose,
no desire and an abysmal fear
loomed over me again.

Poem 36 : A potpourri,It is

O my river of scintillating
dreams, you flow across
the undulating times,
gaining speed with
each passing impediment.

you know not, what
the mist hides.
you know not, what
the time lies.
you know not, what
drives you through.
you know not,
what woos you.

Drawn into this world
from darkness beneath
you go and go on,
Unhindered, unbothered,
In this potpourri of emptiness.

One day you will meet
the ocean of serenity
Only to learn that
it is not the end but
the journey  gave you life
and got you through.

Poem 35 : When all seems lost

When your strength fails you,
When your faith breaks you,
When your shadow frightens you,
When darkness envelops you,
When people taunt,
Humiliate and hurt you,
When your love stabs you,
When times become tiring,
When fear rules you,
When you are left behind,
When you are left alone,
When you end up in a corner,
When all seems lost,
Rise, Rise thou, lonely stricken soul,
Rise like a phoenix
From thou burnt ashes.
Rise high to rule thy sky.
When wind fear your blazing wings,
Burn all that stands and breathes against you,
May that sky be engulfed by your raging fire,
Fire that will never fail you,
Fire that will bring you peace.

Poem 34 : Dolorous dunes

Trapped in the dolorous dunes
I strolled aimlessly gazing
The scorching sun incinerating
All the hapless mere beings

Horrified, I gathered air
And heaved for every set step
Unaware of the boundaries
I went on, perspiring.

Hostile sands burned
My weathered feet
Murderous winds blew
To throw me off the horizon

Time seemed stopping
Pain seemed surging
Hope seemed cunning
I prayed ghastly.

Vultures circled above
Smelling dying breaths below
I thrived to increase pace
Out there in the sickening place

Just when my feet were dying
Civilization unveiled to my eyes
Rejuvenated and invigorated
I ran burning the last of my hydrates.

Poem 33 : A threnody that stings

When I was left astray
Drifting in the endless time
A star came upon the dark sky
To keep me wondering

When I slipped through
The Chapters of thoughtless
Moments, a rarity happened
To keep me wondering

When I thought it is not
Going to happen
An angel lit the dark sky
To keep me wondering

I believed and strived
to build a paradise of
Endless love floating
on the sea of time.

But I failed and my
Paradise got wrecked
To sink into the depths
Of the enigma, there is.

Battered and bereaved
I slithered into the
Shackles of pain
As the days went by.

Thus ends a threnody,
Not all of them end happily
Some are meant to be
Lived in misery and anguish.

Poem 32 : A rogue of thousand streets

In the familiar
But unfamiliar streets
There was a rogue
Of  thousand streets

Roaming around
Lost and smitten
Stricken by the denial
Of the only one who mattered

Unsure and unabated
He slithered aimlessly
Unable to withstand
The surge of pain

All that was there
Was seen no where
All that was taken
Was never given back

He wondered was
This the time to change
Unable to decide
He went further and farther.

Poem 31 : Love and Pain

Like there is day and night
Light and dark
God and evil
There is love and pain

One so sweet
You can’t live without
Other so bitter
Will haunt you throughout

One made to
Bind us all
And the other made to
Make us fall

One exists to
Create our memories
And the other to
Bring life in them

Either can’t exist
And survive alone
Both grow hand in hand
All within the circle of life

As none can escape
These boundaries of life
I too got caught
Now. living in pain

Living in pain
Brings back all those moments,
And will make you feel
Something has been lost forever.

-          Shashank K D(01-02-2012)

Poem 30 : Light my way

Light my way
Before I lose hope
Before I go weak
Before it goes black

Light my way
As I dream to live
As I live to dream
As you are supreme

Light my way
For I am left alone
Before I become stone
To be blown and thrown

Light my way
And I will follow you
In your blue hue
You are true.

-          Shashank K D(31-01-2012)

Poem 29 : Tears fall like rain

Tears fall like rain
Down my face
like they are never falling again
for you are no longer mine

all that remains
will never come back
all that remains
will creep underneath

Days go by
never again the same
never again mine
leaving me always in shame

all I dreamed and hoped
was you to shine bright
all I feared and worried
was me to be left alone

what can I do
when you can’t bare me
when my fate doesn’t like me
when I am no longer the same.

-          Shashank K D(31-01-2012)

Poem 28 : One Last time

Give me a smile
which will fill my time
which ends now
and will never start again.
Give me a smile
Before I go back
Before this dusk falls
Which will never dawn again
Give me a smile
Before light fades away
Leaving behind me all alone
Back there in the dark
Give me a smile
Before you turn away
To fill my memories
That will never change again
Give me a smile
Before I lose myself
Before my walls close in
Before I am gone
Forever and ever
To never return again.

-          Shashank K D(31-01-2012)

Poem 27 : How curse i am

I will crib and sulk and die
You will smile and laugh and live
How cursed I am
How gifted you are

I dream of heights
You dream of seas
While I intend to jump
You intend to swim

We both pray to him
Every now and then
I wish to take me soon
You wish to live here long

I built a palace
Out of thin air
You never knew
And never cared

A pain creeps within
Consuming my life
A smile blooms there in
Celebrating your life

How different are our paths
Never meant to meet
Yet fate had its play
And that’s how it went

We both will come back again
And I will pray more and more
For you to live and live long
That’s all I had ever wanted.

Poem 26 : Brothers in Arms

Winds blew hard on a
Frosty hostile night
Freezing his life out,
Stood there, a man of honor

He looked upon the
 Advancing enemies
With an undeterred zeal of
Integrity and perserverance.

Along with him stood
The Brothers in arms
Sworn an oath to fight
Till the last breath.

They stood there beyond
the colors of religion
and beyond all walls
we have built over here

Then the time came
To save their brethren.
Clouds shuddered with a roar
That echoed “Vande Mataram”

Poem 25 : Colors of Life

On a silent subtle
Evening, one day,
I sat alone
Felling the solitude of breeze.

So lost, we are,
So weak, we are,
So confused are our thoughts,
Wish we knew more.

Air gives us strength
Water sustains our existence
Earth gives us life
Light shows our path

Made out of magic,
The almighty above
Drives us through
From the very beginning.

Yet, we are so tiny,
So young, so bewildered
Beings of the
Magnificent macro cosmos.

Though our life is
Defined by its limits
We came with gifts
To fill our time.

Gifts to feel,
To love and dream
The three colors of life
Painting our empty souls.

Poem 24 : Clipped Wings

Clipped are our wings
Stricken are our thoughts
Smitten is our path
we live on the edge of a sword

clinged to the certainty
bound by the limits
envisaged by the logic
we forget to fly

we are those
who dare to imagine
but to strive to survive
the strenuous usualness

we hide under
the cocoon of predictions
which neither push us
nor make us proud

All we wait is
And all we dream is
A palace built out of thin air
Pure though impractical

The exasperation rules us
Though perspiration hides within
May we dare to step out
And May we live our imagination.

Poem 23 : The Orange Lightbearer

When the light bearer
Over the horizon
Was raising gracefully
Encircled by his orangy aura.

I stood there struck
By his luminescence
And the magnificence
Of this spectacle.

There is light
And there is dark
One to create and
Other to destroy.

We sometimes ponder
And other times wonder,
Is this random
Or done with rhythm?

Mystified by the uncertainty
And petrified by the tenacity
Of the so called fate
We live day in and out.

But we churned out these,
Hope, faith and belief
Armor made by us
To survive the enigma of time.

And then came
Will, zeal and wisdom
To take us up above
Where the truth reigns.

Poem 22 : A star of Ivory Night

A smile came out
From the reflections
Of the serene waters
Amidst the silence of night

Ivory rays fell
Upon the content face
Radiant enough
To shine in the moonlit meadow.

Just when time
Went frozen
And air seemed to stop
A voice came from deep within

Humming grew to pick words
Faintness seemed to vanish
Now the audience was
Hushed and Spellbound.

Antelopes stopped grazing,
Birds woke up from early sleep,
Leaves rustled and frogs croaked,
Air was being weaved by the elven voice.

When everything seemed
To have been captured
Under her magical voice
She stopped and stared.

Stared at a star
Up above glimmering
With effervescence and magnificence
Like never before.

Star, it was
And star, she is
Looking upon each other
Both a magic of enigmatic cosmos.

Poem 21 : Love and War

Stallions rode by knights
Steered into the enemy line
With pike men running
Ahead, all in a war cry.

Amongst them roared
A young prince
In the gleaming armor
 Riding to save his motherland.

Unsheathing his sword
His eyes glared
At the marching enemies
And their riding knights.

Then, They clashed
Like a thunder of
A stormy rain
Metals clanked and clanked again.

Amidst the chaos
Rode our prince
Swinging his blade
As the blood spilled with each blow.

 As the day passed
And lives killed,
Enemies frightened and spattered,
battle was already won.

Far away, in the breezy
Meadows stood the
Longing princess
Staring at the falling sun.

As air twirled past her
Silken hairs, Tears came
From her moist eyes
With a ghostly silence to follow.

Then came the pompous
Day with marching troops
Along the crowded streets
Men back in their homeland.

As the news flew
Into her waiting ears,
She ran like
a fire set ablaze.

Then they met
in their Old magical place
They couldn’t wait
To embrace each other again.

Their stood on the tired stallion
The war laden Prince
With cuts and blood
Back from the chaos of war.

As the morning rays
Touched her blossomed face
She smiled with his warm embrace
As if the heavens had come alive.

Poem 20 : The Mighty Chant

Left alone on a murky shore,
Stood an humble soul,
Battered and Shattered
By the thumping maul.

Maul, sent from up above,
Little did he know
Or little did he mourn
Stood there with no forlorn.

For Time, Tests and
Tests again
For those who fall
But stand again.

Breeze swiveled past his
Weary face
As he looked upon
The raising waves.

A thought bubbled
From the ocean in him
To remind his sense
That hope still burns within.

Then He lunged into
The vast blues
With a chant that echoed
“Hara Hara Mahadev”.

Poem 19 : Rain and Melancholy

Hurrying through the busy
Sideways, was I,
Restless to reach
My warm peaceful pavilion.

Up above, relentless and undeterred
Clouds sailed with blowing winds
To clash each other,
Thunders and lightening to follow.

As the Rain God smiled
At his play,
Out of thin air,
Poured the magical droplets.

Out of love for life,
For sustenance, for balance
And for everything
The God made them for.

They came down
To blend in the earth,
And with the new born love,
I smelt the divine aroma.

With the magic engrossing
And my face drenching,
I stared at the empty sky
Hiding under thundering clouds.

My soul screamed within,
Where are you?
My eyes yearns
To meet yours.

Poem 18 : My Divine Thee

There was a time
When I couldn’t think,
Couldn’t speak,
Couldn’t believe.
It was that time
When I just came
Into this living world.

All I could do,
Was an empty stare
Thrown at strangers around.
Then, I saw you,
A body of pure magic,
This is when I smiled,
Long before I knew what it is.

There are some bonds
Made by God himself
Which we humans
have rarely understood,
One of which is you,
My Mother, My divine thee.

I have learnt
Over the years
To stand undeterred
With a strong mind
And a humble heart.
I owe my life
To your serene grace.

May I always be honest,
May I always be righteous,
May I always walk under your light,
May I always be your son
In all the lives I have to live,
For you is a Temple of Sacrifice
And I am just a humble devotee.

Poem 17 : Friends and Philisophy

When I walk along the streets
And see people around me
So busy spending time,
So busy spending life.

I start thinking of the past
Moments spent and lived
Pity me, can’t stop them
Nor the wreathing chunks of liveliness.

Moments, were they,
Spent with those
Neither can I define
Nor can they.

We call them friends
The randomness they bring
Out of the ever so
Adamantly lame regularity.

The hardship, they say,
Is the part and parcel
Of life but they didn’t say.
Should we be alone facing it?

The nearer they get
The lesser we know their value.
And the farther they go
The greater we miss them.

But it is not us
Who are rolling the dice.
Let the ever so mighty do it
I am just happy playing it.

But I do pray,
Let the randomness return,
Let the vividness surmount in
My ever so lame regularity.

Poem 16 : My Inner self

When i close my eyes,
the bright light goes off,
and in comes the inner self,
Often tickling me with its projections.

Projections, they are,
Spoken by my true self
Waiting with earnest hope
To materialize in the living shelf.

Reveries is the name
Which we gave them
Coloring souls out there
In the ether everywhere.

We live a life
Being a mere puppet,
Puppeteer exists or not,
Time never told us.

But we can dream a life
Being the puppeteer ourselves
and bring out the play
Which we always longed to see.

But dreams,they are
And life,this is
One me and the other
My inner self.
