Poem 34 : Dolorous dunes

Trapped in the dolorous dunes
I strolled aimlessly gazing
The scorching sun incinerating
All the hapless mere beings

Horrified, I gathered air
And heaved for every set step
Unaware of the boundaries
I went on, perspiring.

Hostile sands burned
My weathered feet
Murderous winds blew
To throw me off the horizon

Time seemed stopping
Pain seemed surging
Hope seemed cunning
I prayed ghastly.

Vultures circled above
Smelling dying breaths below
I thrived to increase pace
Out there in the sickening place

Just when my feet were dying
Civilization unveiled to my eyes
Rejuvenated and invigorated
I ran burning the last of my hydrates.
